Man Speeding in School Zone Arrested after Fleeing Traffic Stop on Foot – Wanted on 3 Felony Warrants
Yesterday afternoon, Officers stopped 29-year-old Gary Grimsley of Ft. Pierce for traveling 40MPH in a 20MPH school zone in front of Village Green Elementary. Grimsley knew he had active felony warrants so he told Officers he did not have identification and subsequently provided a fake name.
As Officers were attempting to confirm his identity on their vehicle laptop, Grimsley exited his car and told Officers, “man I’m going to be honest, I gotta go!”
He then immediately fled the traffic stop and ran along the canal bank into the woods. Grimsley refused all commands to stop running and was tased in the woods during the foot pursuit.
In addition to his 3 active felony arrest warrants, Grimsley was also arrested and charged with providing false information to police and resisting without violence. He remains housed at the St. Lucie County Jail at this time.
