PSL Police investigating tampering of city fire hydrants.
On April 26, 2016, Port St. Lucie Police went to four different locations throughout the center of the City to investigate unauthorized openings of City fire hydrants.
Beginning at 3:40 am and ending at 5:50 pm, Port St. Lucie Utilities reported that fire hydrants were opened by unknown suspect(s) at the following locations:
· 1000 block of NW Bayshore Boulevard
· 300 block of NE Floresta Drive
· 800 block of NE Whistling Duck Way
· 600 block of NE Lazy River Parkway
Police noted that the last fire hydrant opening caused massive water release and flooded a portion of the roadway. Other negative results from the unauthorized release of water from the hydrants include decreased water pressure for surrounding homes, potential road hazard, cost of water loss, and attractive nuisance to children.
Police are asking if you have any information on these cases or if you see anyone tampering with City fire hydrants to immediately call the 9-1-1, the Port St. Lucie Police Department at (772) 871-5001, or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273 TIPS.
