Indian Riverside Park is a Jensen Beach outdoor area popular because of the facilities and amenities, the views, and the availability of event venues.
On the shores of the Indian River Lagoon, Indian Riverside Park is one of the top outdoor destinations in Martin County. Spanning 63 acres, Indian Riverside Park has ½ mile of waterfront space. There’s a ¾ mile-walking path and a mangrove boardwalk, as well as open fields and manicured gardens.
At one point, Indian Riverside Park was the Jensen Beach campus of the Florida Institute of Technology. Oceanographic technology was taught here, but the campus closed in 1986. Martin County acquired part of what was sold, developing it into the current park.
You’ll find family-friendly activities at Indian River Park in Jensen Beach, including an interactive fountain for playing, a butterfly garden, and several picnic pavilions. There’s also a 700-foot fishing pier that was once a mooring place for research vessels from Florida Tech. Now, the pier is a fishing spot for the community, extending above the Indian River Lagoon waters.
The Jensen Beach U.S. Sailing Center is at the park’s north end, where you can participate in both recreational and competitive sailing activities. The Sailing Center offers lessons daily.
The Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast is within the park. A contemporary museum, there are hands-on displays related to health, history, recycling, and nature.
The Mansion at Tuckahoe, built in 1936, is within the park and is considered one of the most significant historic sites in Florida. The Florida Institute of Technology previously used the Mansion, but it has since been transformed into a Treasure Coast event center. The facility is on top of the Mount Elizabeth archeological site, and it’s been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
Built in 1899, the Captain Henry E. Sewall House is a wooden Florida home that’s been restored and is open to the public in the park.
The Frances Langford Dockside Pavilion is a banquet hall and event center with more than 3,800 square feet of space overlooking the waters of the lagoon. The Dockside Pavilion has a catering kitchen and wrap-around balcony, as well as a dance floor and capacity for up to 250 guests. Frances Langford was one of Jensen Beach’s most notable residents, having a long career as a singer, entertainer, and film actress. Part of her former home is a café extending over the edge of the lagoon.
There are two primary spaces available for events at Indian Riverside Park. You can rent either for various functions and celebrations. The first is the Mansion at Tuckahoe, and the second is the Frances Langford Dockside Pavilion.
