All three bridges to the barrier island will close at 9:00 P.M. Sustained winds have reached dangerous levels in Indian River County and we can no longer approve safe travel over the bridges. Law enforcement personnel will be in place to keep traffic off the bridges until time that they are no longer able to safely staff those posts.
The Indian River County Emergency Operations Center will hold another press conference at midnight to give updates on Hurricane Matthew. The conference will be broadcast on Indian River County Government Channel 27 and uploaded to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office YouTube page.
