HUNDREDS PROTEST WITH RIVER KIDZ ON THE BRIDGE
These are the people I met when I first became involved in fighting for clean water.
The River Kidz.
River Kidz is affiliated with the Rivers Coalition and was co-founded by Evie Flaugh of Stuart Middle School and Naia Mader of The Pine School. Their mission is to speak out, get involved and raise awareness about the condition of our waterways.
These kids are awesome. They live here. They want clean water. They even wrote a workbook to educate the public. I’ve sent this workbook to my nieces. I have also sent to my legislators because if you can’t understand something that is geared to elementary school kid then you shouldn’t even be a legislator.
Anyone who keeps clean water from these children are just mean grinches. I mean it. You know who you are. Stop it! Would you allow your children to go swimming in the Indian River Lagoon? Would you? Every time you make a decision to slaughter with discharges think of the faces below of the children who can’t go in the water because of greed, egos, or what ever it is that holding you back from doing the right thing.
This is my nieces and grandson in Sarasota last week. Note the water. Clean gorgeous water.
These are the faces of Happy Tourists. My sister, from Colorado, was able to book a medical conference at the Lido. Hundreds of Happy Tourists dropping their tourist bucks in Sarasota. Water the color of postcards.
This is the water in the Indian River Lagoon. Gross. Disgusting.
This cannot continue. Any legislator, governor, water manager from SFWMD and yes Big Sugar that allows this to happen is just despicable.
Days like today keep us going. These kids deserve clean water. People deserve to make a living. I spoke to many people today whose livelihood depends on the water and they have no earthly idea how they are going to pay their bills and take care of their children.
Today the River Kidz had a march on the Ernie Lyons Bridge and I was invited. Here are some photos.
