Stuart Police have received reports from a homeowner that her house that is listed for sale is also listed for rent on Craigslist.
Problem is, her house is not for rent and she has no knowledge of the rental listing.
An alert neighbor made the owner aware that he has seen many people walking around the property. When he asked the people what they were doing on the property, they said that they were responding to a Craigslist ad and are considering renting the home.
One of the would-be renters sent $600 via Money Gram to Arkansas as a deposit to rent the house.
Make sure you are dealing with a reputable property manager, real estate agent, or the actual owner of the property.
