THE HONEST BROKER: WORKING WITH A REALTOR
One of the most important personal financial decisions ever made is the purchase of home. Part of that decision process is finding the right fit for you in a professional realtor; including their experience level, how many years in the profession, positive referrals from friends and relatives, etc. It is not advisable to use someone that has not been vetted.
If you are either a buyer or a seller, the realtor you choose can produce a negative experience or a positive experience. The next big step is “working with” your realtor because it definitely is a necessity for all parties to work together as it is a relationship that is built during the entire process. The buyer or seller determines what they need and want, and the professional realtor works to bring that to fruition. How is this done? The realtor must be accessible to their client by returning emails and phone calls in a timely manner. By answering their clients’ questions with honesty and knowledge, they strengthen their working relationship and the realtor has more information to find them the home of their dreams.
Once a home is under contract, the realtor must help their client’s meet the requirements of the contract and guide their client through the process. As a liaison with the mortgage company, the title company, homeowner association, possibly referring handymen, home inspectors, insurance companies, etc. if needed, the realtor provides the pathway to a positive conclusion.
Working with an experienced, knowledgeable and proven realtor is paramount in preventing any issues that can arise in the process.
