Nestled nicely in between Stuart and Jupiter along the Atlantic Coast you’ll find Hobe Sound Beach. Known for its pristine beaches and limestone formations, this family-friendly spot is equipped with many amenities like free parking, restrooms, picnic tables, pavilions, a lifeguard station, and showers. There are even designated areas for off-leash walks with your canine family members.
Professional lifeguards are on duty during day hours so you can enjoy the clear turquoise waters in the designated swimming areas. These areas are designed so swimmers aren’t disturbed by watercraft and surfers.
Apart from swimming, the other areas of the beach allow for plenty of water activities, depending on the Hobe Sound Beach conditions. There’s access for boating like kayaking, sailboarding, and kiteboarding. The beach goes on for miles for long walks and it’s a popular nesting ground for sea turtles.
This area was originally inhabited by the Ais Indians, who named the area after the abundant turtles, “hobe”. It’s transformed over the centuries from a hub for agriculture (pineapple and tomato) into a popular tourist attraction drawing wealthy patrons like Ernest Hemingway in the 1900s. Hemingway enjoyed the serene natural beauty of the area.
