Gang member arrested for breaking into home while fleeing from sheriff.

St Lucie County Deputies were notified that Demota Lee Ward, 24, was in the area of North 49th Street and Avenue Q and had warrants for violation of probation. When they arrived in the area, Ward was getting into a vehicle near the 1500 block of Angle Road. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, Ward jumped out of the car and ran. After a short foot-chase, a resident in the 3900 block of Avenue M notified dispatchers that a man had broken into his home. Deputies arrived at the home and noticed a window screen was removed and window was open. Inside the home deputies found Ward.

Ward, a documented gang member, was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, violation of probation, and four counts of resisting an officer without violence. He was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail without bond.
