The families of Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen, the two teenage boys lost at sea when their 19-foot boat capsized off the Florida coast, announced their decision to end their privately-led search for the boys Saturday.

According to a family spokesperson, the search had run its course.

Last seen heading out of Jupiter Inlet, the boy’s capsized boat was found two days later 165 miles north of Jupiter Inlet and 75 miles east of Daytona Beach, Fla.

The US Coast Guard ended it search July 31.

Both families are establishing a charitable foundation in honor of Austin and Perry.

The foundation will promote youth boating education, to include legislative action to enhance boater safety.
