Drug and alcohol rehab center gets approval from St. Lucie County Commission

St. Lucie County, Fl (treasurecoast.com) -A 25,992-square-foot substance-abuse rehabilitation center could be built at the southwest corner of Midway and Northwest Dunn roads.

The County Commission Tuesday approved a permit for PLAG Holdings LLC to operate a detox and recovery facility for individuals facing drug and alcohol addiction.

It still needs final approval from the Planning and Development Services director.

Springs Recovery Center, a 76-bed adult facility, would be built on nearly 5 undeveloped acres less than a mile away from other inpatient facilities such as Royal Care Inc., Preferred Private Care, Florida Center for Recovery and Treasure Coast Hospice.

A typical treatment period is 30-40 days, but it can be as short as seven days, officials said.

The facility — which will have up to 45 full-time employees consisting of doctors, therapists, nurses, administrative staff and facility management — will have a group meeting room, kitchen, laundry room, dining hall, nurse stations, offices, outdoor patio and a pharmacy.

Cost estimates have not yet been provided to the county, officials said. Construction is expected to begin once permits from St. Lucie County Public Works Department and Port St. Lucie Utilities Department, have been issued.
