Deputies Arrest Robbery Suspects

DEPUTIES ARREST ROBBERY SUSPECTS

On July 3, 2015, at approximately 5:24 P.M., Deputies responded to the 7-11 located at 5700 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, in reference to a Robbery. The investigation determined that the victim, who had stopped at the gas pumps to fuel her vehicle, was approached by a black male who removed her purse from her vehicle.

Store video surveillance shows the male, later identified as 16-year-old Dominique Sanders of Cocoa, pushing past the victim while entering the driver’s side of her vehicle to remove her purse. The suspect, along with a second male identified as 19-year-old Corwyn Mitchell of Cocoa, then fled the area in a gold colored Toyota Four Runner.

Prior to the robbery, both suspects unsuccessfully attempted to enter two other vehicles in the parking lot. The victims of the other vehicles in the parking lot have not yet been identified and investigators are asking that the other unsuspecting victims come forward to assist in the investigation.

The Rockledge Police Department then observed the vehicle on Fiske Boulevard in Rockledge. Rockledge Police Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, which fled at a high rate of speed. A short time later, the driver crashed the vehicle on Avondale Road, Rockledge. Both Sanders and Mitchell were taken into custody. 700 S. Corwyn Mitchell was transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is held without bond and charged with Robbery, Battery, Burglary of conveyance and theft. Dominique Sanders was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center where he is also held without bond and is charged with Robbery, Battery, Burglary of conveyance, theft, and Felony Violation of Probation. Sanders was already serving a sentence of probation for a previous burglary.
