The only passenger wearing a seat belt in an I-95 crash in Martin County was killed while three others in the SUV survived.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports three survivors in the Friday crash weren’t wearing seatbelts, yet passenger Casimiro Aquino was wearing a safety belt and was killed. The 56-year-old Miami man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers were airlifted to a hospital and the driver was taken by ambulance to a separate hospital. The FHP said the vehicle’s driver lost control after tread separated from a tire, causing it to swerve off the highway and roll over several times. That was the second deadly crash on I-95.
A blue Dodge Viper lost control in the northbound lanes near the Becker Road exit. The sports car went off the road and slammed into a tree.
