County to Host Guided Full Moon Hike at Hypoluxo Scrub Natural Area

Hikers admire a beautiful sunset from a lookout tower on a recent night walk at Hypoluxo Scrub Natural Area

Palm Beach County’s Department of Environmental Resources Management (ERM) will host a guided full moon hike at Hypoluxo Scrub Natural Area this Sunday, January 24, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

This event will give participants a unique opportunity to learn more about this 98-acre natural area which is part of the 31,000-acre natural area system owned by the county and managed by ERM.

Topics covered will include the history and unique features of the site, plants and animals that live there, sunset-night sights and sounds, and urban sky glow and light pollution, an increasing concern for animals that depend on the dark.

150 Hypoluxo Rd., Hypoluxo

When:  Sunday, January 24 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Important details: This event is free and open to the public.  Reservations are required.  Hikers should wear comfortable clothing and shoes, be prepared to walk two miles, and are encouraged to bring cameras, binoculars, flashlights and insect repellent.  Restroom facilities are not available.
