City of Port St. Lucie prepares for Hurricane Erika, asks residents to do the same
As a precautionary measure, the City of Port St. Lucie is beginning preparations for Hurricane Erika and asks residents and businesses to do the same.
City actions:
- City vehicles and fuel storage tanks have been filled
- Emergency generators have been tested
- City departments and employees are reviewing emergency plans
- Emergency supplies have been checked (batteries, weather gear, etc.)
- Public Works crews are checking drainage, clearing when needed
Recommendations for citizens:
- Fill vehicle tanks and storage tanks
- Check generators
- Review personal and family emergency plans
- Inventory storm supplies, such as window shutters, water, food, medicines, toiletries
Reminders:
- Regular trash and yard debris pickup will continue on routine schedule until further notice
- Do not trim trees and bushes at this time, as it will not be collected until after the possible storm has passed
