The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County Garden Terrace Unit and Administrative Office was burglarized and vandalized late on Wednesday night. This is the third in a string of break-ins that have left the Club without critical programing supplies and now closed for repair.
The William’s Center which houses the Boys & Girls Clubs Administrative Office, Garden Terrace Clubhouse and the Fort Pierce Police Substation was ransacked. Vandals broke computers, stole valuables and left the Club and Administrative office in disrepair closing the Club doors to over 150 youth in need of this vital program.
“This is truly a sad day. For criminals to take from our kids who already have so little is unacceptable. While the people responsible for this can damage our facility and equipment they cannot damage our resolve to provide GREAT FUTURES for the 150 plus kids who attend our Club on a daily basis,” said Michael A. Sancho, Chief Executive Officer.
The Boys & Girls Clubs is deeply concerned about this crime and is cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities in a thorough investigation of this case. Pending the conclusion of the investigation the Club will notify the public of when it will be up and operating again. The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County has as its primary concern the safety and wellbeing of the young people it serves.
The Club is asking for support at this time to help reopen the door to our members. Financial assistance to get the Club up and running safely is our top priority. Please contact Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County’s CEO Mike Sancho at 772-882-8812 or via email at msancho@bgcofslc.org.
