Boat Owners Invited to Participate in First Annual Howlin’ River Boat Parade
The City of Port St. Lucie Community Redevelopment Agency is hosting the first annual Howlin’ River Boat Parade and Enchanted Forest on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Veterans Park at Rivergate. Boat owners are invited to decorate their boats and dress themselves in clever costume for this event and join in the fall fun.
Onlookers will watch the parade from the Riverwalk Boardwalk and Tom Hooper Park as the boats cruise south on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River all decked out in their creative concepts, then circle back from the C-24 Canal junction to give everyone one last look. Boaters should note fixed bridge crossing during parade route.
The most creative designs, as voted on by the judges, will be awarded prizes. The awards presentation will be held at Veterans Park at Rivergate immediately following the boat parade. Awards will be given for the best decorated vessel 16’ and under, and the best decorated vessel over 16’.
Those wishing to participate in the boat parade can apply online or download the application and fax it to (772) 879-3376. The boat owner or skipper must also attend a mandatory captain’s meeting on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at Hurricane Grill & Wings. Applications will be accepted before or during the captain’s meeting. Boat owners must provide proof of insurance and proper license.
There is no cost to participate in this event.
The boat parade will begin at 6:15 p.m. and participants must report to the staging area at 5:45 p.m. You may park your vehicle and trailer at Veterans Park at Rivergate or park and launch at nearby C-24 Canal Park.
Veterans Park at Rivergate is located at 2200 S.E. Veterans Memorial Parkway.
