BGC Teen Members Attend Mentoring Program
Over 60 members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County attended the first annual Teen Mentoring Program at Indian River State College. Dr. S. Darrell Lee, founder of Lee Plastic Surgery and Laser Center developed the event in conjunction with the BGC.
The teens heard from 25 panelists representing local businesses in Medicine, Law, Finance, Technology, Sports/Entertainment, and various Trades. In addition to the career areas, the teens also learned about the importance of networking from Dr. Lee; and financial opportunities from Susan Whittington.
Following the initial presentations, BGC Members were treated to a networking lunch with the respective career mentor in the area that they were interested in.
Attendees learned about career opportunities right here in St. Lucie County. They listened as panelists described job requirements, expectations, pay and advancement opportunities. “It was a great event,” stated Dr. Lee. “The Club Members learned a lot about local jobs and they had some interesting questions for our panelists. We look forward to building this into an annual event that benefits the kids and the community.”
Dr. Lee is owner/founder of Lee Plastic Surgery and Laser Center in Port St. Lucie. He is committed to our community and helping those in need. He is a proud supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County, Humane Society, Treasure Coast Veterans and many other non-profit and community based organizations.
| S. Darrell Lee, M.D., is an accomplished board certified plastic surgeon. Dr. Lee is an Ambassador of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and is the Official Plastic Surgeon of the St. Lucie Mets; and President of Medical Staff for the St. Lucie Medical Center, an HCA Hospital. He served as Chairman of the Credentialing Committee at St. Lucie Medical Center; and also served as Chief of Surgery. He participates at the St. Lucie Wound Care Center and holds privileges at Jupiter Medical Center, St. Lucie Medical Center, Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Martin Health Systems. Dr. Lee is a graduate of New York Medical College and completed his Fellowship in Plastic Surgery at the World Renown Mayo Clinic. He is the proud recipient of the Patients Choice Award, Most Compassionate Doctor, Best Plastic Surgeon, People’s Choice Awards and HCA Frist Humanitarian of the year.
