Fort Pierce Police are reminding citizens to be wary of possible scams.
Some basic rules you could follow to avoid becoming a victim. DO NOT give out any personal information or details about you or your family. DO NOT send money to anyone.
A recent new scam involved a couple setting up at a local Walmart store asking parents/grandparents if they wanted to sign their children up for the Amber Alert program. They collected the names, phone numbers and addresses of the parents/grandparents and how many kids/grandkids they had.
The scammer reportedly followed up with a phone call wanting to come by and fingerprint and swab the kids/grandkids.
