Bat-tastic Night Out: Bat Detecting Basics
Thursday, Aug 24 from 7:30– 10 p.m.
The UF/IFAS Extension St. Lucie County is conducting a “Bat-tastic Night Out: Bat Detecting Basics” on Thursday, Aug. 24 beginning at 7:30 p.m. During this event, Ken Gioeli, UF/IFAS St. Lucie County Extension Agent, will go over the basics of bat detecting and then guide you on a search for life after dark.
Have you ever wondered what kind of bats and other creatures of the night live in Florida? Meet at the UF/IFAS St. Lucie County Extension for an informative bat chat. Learn about this fascinating, beautiful, misunderstood mammal that is an essential part of a healthy ecosystem. Participants will also learn about bats in bridges. As the sun sets we will travel to a nearby bat colony. Gioeli will bring along bat detectors and night vision goggles for our quest to discover these nocturnal creatures!
