Bat Detecting Basics at Port St Lucie Botanical Gardens Boo-Tanica!
The UF/IFAS St. Lucie County Extension in conjunction with the Florida Master Naturalists and Port St Lucie Botanical Gardens are having a “Bat Detecting at Port St Lucie Botanical Gardens Boo-Tanica!!” on Monday, Oct. 31, beginning at 7:30 p.m. During this event Ken Gioeli, UF/IFAS St. Lucie County Extension Agent, will go over the basics of bat detecting and guide you on a search for life in the garden after dark.
Have you ever wondered what kind of bats and other creatures of the night live in Florida? Meet at Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens for an informative bat chat with guest speaker Ken Gioeli, University of Florida/St. Lucie County Extension Natural Resource Agent. Learn about this fascinating, beautiful, misunderstood mammal that is an essential part of a healthy ecosystem Participants will also learn about our other nocturnal critters on a nature walk through the Garden. As the sun sets we will travel into Botanical Gardens property in search of life after dark. Gioeli will bring along bat detectors and night vision goggles for our quest to discover these nocturnal creatures!

Registration: $15 regular registration closes on Friday, Oct. 21
$20 late registration begins Saturday, Oct. 22
$20 registration paid at the door
