19-year old Austin Harrouff, the suspect who murdered a couple at their Jupiter home in August, was released from the hospital today and charged with two counts of first degree murder, one count of attempted first degree murder, armed burglary of a dwelling and resisting arrest without violence.
Harrouff was booked into the Martin County Jail without bond. He declined to give detectives a statement.
Just before 1pm today, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit, working in the capacity of the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, along with MCSO Criminal Investigations Detectives, took custody of Harrouff and escorted him to our facility where he will be held in the medical ward of our jail.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is awaiting toxicology results from the FBI lab in Quantico. They will release those results once they come in.
On August 15th, Austin Harrouff murdered Michelle Mishcon and John Stevens at their Jupiter home. A neighbor who witnessed the brutal encounter and tried to assist the couple, was also seriously injured by Harrouff. Mischcon and Stevens were random victims. Harrouff did not know them.
