Arrests of Wanted Fugitives Highlight Need for Public Involvement
Last night, Indian River County Sheriff’s Deputies Michael Dilks and Christopher Lester, acting on a tip, located wanted subject Tyrone Davis (35) of Wabasso at the Pinnacle Groves Apartment Complex. Davis was wanted for failure to appear on previous charges of resisting arrest without violence. When deputies located Davis, he was in possession of more than ten grams of cocaine in both power and crack form. Latasha Freeze (28) of Gifford was also arrested during the incident and charged with tampering with or attempting to destroy evidence, possession of less than twenty grams of marijuana, and resisting arrest without violence. Freeze fled from deputies on foot as they approached and tried to destroy a bag of marijuana in the process. Davis is being held without bond at the Indian River County Jail, while Freeze is being held on $6,000.00 bond.
Earlier in the evening, thanks to an anonymous tip received from Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers, Spencer Demotte (31) of Vero Beach was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a violation of felony probation. Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “As a result of tips from the public, we were able to take two wanted fugitives off the street last night. Tyrone Davis has an extensive history with our agency including more than twenty bookings in our jail. It is our partnership with the public that can make a difference and we need your help every day.” Anyone with information about crimes or wanted fugitives are encouraged to contact Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS (8477) or through their website at www.tcwatch.org .
