It was another day in court for Erise Tisdale.
After a jury conviction and death penalty recommendation for the murder of St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Morales, this case is far from over. After a hearing on Wednesday afternoon, there are still 2 more hearings before Tisdale is placed in a death row cell.
Coming into court in shackles Wednesday, the suit and tie were replaced by a red and white striped jail jumpsuit.
Tisdale shot and killed Morales at point blank range after a traffic stop in 2013. Now prosecutors argue they need to have a psychiatric evaluation done, if the defense plans to use a psychiatrist.
At the hearing on November 17, the defense will argue to only the judge for a lesser sentence than the death penalty.
There’s yet another court date where the judge will then issue Tisdale’s sentence. No date has been set yet.
