Alyssa Torres: Port St. Lucie woman sentenced to 3 life sentences
Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com) – The Port St. Lucie woman who faced the death penalty in the shooting deaths of her 8-year-old daughter and stepfather will spend life in prison without the possibility of parole, a judge ruled Friday.
During a change-of-plea hearing marked by a raw outpouring of trauma and sorrow, Alyssa Torres, 30, was ordered to serve three life prison terms for killing her stepfather Felix “Pito” Rivera, 54, and her daughter Amarilyss Jianni Martinez on June 24, 2019.
Both were found shot in the head at close range inside their bedrooms at the family’s home at the Waterleaf Townhomes and Apartments on Southeast Hillmoor Drive.
In court Friday, Torres appeared motionless as St. Lucie County Circuit Judge Charles Schwab imposed her mandatory sentence after he accepted her no contest pleas to two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm and one count of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm for brutally attacking her mother, Marisol Rivera, 54.
