Join Port St. Lucie in a New Year’s resolution to slow down |
PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – The City of Port St. Lucie is making a New Year’s resolution that will last for years to come by reducing neighborhood speed limits. When the speedometer goes up, so does the possibility of tragedy occurring.
Recognizing that speeding plays a major factor in serious injuries and fatal crashes, City Council voted Sept. 20, 2021, to reduce the speed limit to 25 miles per hour on neighborhood streets citywide. This was based on the recommendation provided by the City’s consultant for the multi-modal plan. Bidding for sign installation began Nov. 18, 2021, and the new street signs should be installed this summer.
