Felons guns, drugs seized in early morning raid in Port St. Lucie
Port St Lucie– On November 21, 2017, Port St. Lucie Police arrested a 37 year old man, Joshua Peterson. He was charged with Violation of Probation, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Short Barrel Riffle and Grand Theft of a Firearm. Peterson was transported to the SLC Jail without incident.

The investigation began when ATF received an anonymous tip identifying an adult convicted felon displaying a firearm in public. With the assistance of Probation and Parole, the Port St. Lucie Police Department’s Special Investigations Division along with ATF conducted an unannounced probation check on the suspect.

A cursory search of the residence yielded a loaded firearm under the suspect, Joshua Peterson’s pillow. SID obtained a search warrant.They worked throughout the night searching the remainder of the house and tediously collecting and logging evidence. They located a total of three loaded assault rifles with high capacity magazines. One had an illegally modified short barrel. Then, there were three loaded hand guns, one of which was stolen out of West Palm Beach and nearly 2,000 rounds of live ammunition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
