It is reported that Martin Health Systems has agreed to pay back over 2-million dollars to the federal government.
Martin Health is one of 32 hospitals across multiple states that the Justice Department announced yesterday have agreed to pay back over 28-million dollars to settle allegations of false Medicare claims over a type of spinal surgery called Kyphoplasty.
The settlements announced Monday resolve allegations that the 32 hospitals frequently billed Medicare for Kyphoplasty procedures on a more costly inpatient basis, rather than an outpatient basis, to increase their Medicare billings.
