About Oslo Riverfront Conservation Area

Oslo Riverfront Conservation Area is a 298-acre natural site offering access to mature coastal hammock, scrubby flatwoods, and estuarine wetlands. The area is located in Vero Beach, with parking at the southwest corner of the property. Trails and facilities are open from sunrise to sunset. Visitors can walk approximately one mile on designated paths, including boardwalks and observation areas. Benches and educational signage appear throughout the site, and a canoe and kayak launch provides access to the Indian River Lagoon.

The hammock habitat contains a mature canopy of live oaks, many of which are centuries old. The understory includes native species such as wild coffee, myrsine, marlberry, firebush, and saw palmetto. Wildlife commonly observed along the Hammock Loop includes woodpeckers, hawks, songbirds, and small mammals.

The scrubby pine flatwoods trail offers higher, drier terrain with sand pines, palmettos, and seasonal wildflowers. Further along, the coastal wetlands section leads to an observation tower, platform, and canoe dock. The site is also part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, and natural resources are protected. Dogs must be leashed, and only designated parking areas may be used.
