In the latest episode of The Current by TreasureCoast.com, we had the honor of speaking with Jimmy Jackson, the founder and president of DoYouGiveARuck, a veteran nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans across the Treasure Coast. Jimmy, an Operation Iraqi Freedom infantry veteran, started the organization after struggling to find local resources for veterans of the Global War on Terror.
Through events like ruck marches, fundraisers, and collaborative community efforts, his organization has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and donated dozens of tons of non-perishable food, hygiene supplies, and baby items to the Treasure Coast community.
DoYouGiveARuck also focuses on bringing veterans together and providing them with a sense of mission and purpose. From emergency home repairs to community support programs, Jimmy’s team partners with local contractors, businesses, and volunteers to ensure veterans in need are taken care of. They’ve even created programs that connect contractors with veterans requiring critical home repairs.
Jimmy’s message to fellow veterans is powerful: everyone has a purpose and a role to play, regardless of their circumstances.
