PSLPD Officer was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic.

At 7:20pm yesterday evening, PSLPD responded to SE Felix Ave/SE Southbend Blvd regarding a crash involving 3 vehicles. At 8:12pm, Officers were directing traffic while the vehicles were being towed from the scene when a white Toyota Avalon traveling north on Southbend Blvd struck an Officer in the roadway.

The vehicle’s front passenger bumper struck the Officer, causing him to roll onto the hood and into the windshield. The impact cracked the windshield and the Officer landed in the grass shoulder.
The Officer was transported to the hospital by St. Lucie County Fire District and he is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. The 60-year-old male driver of the Toyota Avalon was not injured and was traveling home from work. Preliminary information revealed the crash was an accident.
We are grateful our Officer was not seriously injured and wish him a speedy recovery.
