54-year-old PSL man arrested on charges of robbery-by sudden snatching and domestic battery
Port St. Lucie, Fl- On August 12, 2019 at around 11:15 pm, police arrested Michael Joseph Dempsey III, DOB 7/9/1965, PSL resident on charges of robbery by sudden snatching (without firearm/weapon) for the taking of a cell phone by force from the victim’s person, with intent to permanently deprive the victim. Michael was also charged with domestic simple battery for pushing the victim. The incident occurred at the victim’s residence in Port St. Lucie.
Police learned Michael and the victim were conversing when Michael asked the victim for some water; which was provided to him at which point he snatched the cell phone from the victim by force. Michael also pushed the victim. The victim asked Michael to leave the premises; however, he became angry refusing to leave, so the police were called.
Michael was apprehended on scene and the cell phone was returned to the victim. Michael was then transported to the St. Lucie County Jail where he is being housed on the mentioned charges. No injuries were reported.
