12-time convicted felon arrested in St. Lucie County

 

St Lucie County, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- A man with 57 felony arrests and 12 felony convictions is back behind bars after he ran from deputies in St. Lucie County.

The sheriff’s office said U.S. Marshals and members of the warrants unit spotted 39-year-old Marques Jones outside a home on Avenue R near N. 31st Street on Monday afternoon. He faced arrest warrants for aggravated battery, attempted aggravated assault, and false imprisonment for an incident involving his girlfriend in Port St. Lucie over the weekend.

When Jones spotted authorities coming his way, the sheriff’s office said Jones ran to a car, retrieved a gun and ran away from deputies. As Jones began to climb a fence and turn toward deputies, a deputy fired six times at Jones.

Jones was not hit but he surrendered immediately after the gunfire.

Jones faces numerous charges including aggravated assault possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting arrest and possession of cocaine.
