Sebastian Storm Water Park is a 163-acre site designed for stormwater treatment and environmental protection. It helps reduce pollutants entering the Indian River Lagoon. The park removes up to 80% of nitrogen, 56% of phosphorus, and 79% of sediments from runoff. These pollutants, often from fertilizers, pet waste, and household chemicals, contribute to algal blooms, fish kills, and waterway degradation.
Developed in partnership with the St. John’s River Water Management District, the park includes retention areas that filter stormwater before it reaches nearby waterways. It also provides nature trails for public use. The trails pass through oak hammocks, pine flatwoods, scrub, and wetlands.
