Richard E. Becker Preserve is a 13-acre natural area along Ten Mile Creek, part of the St. Lucie River North Fork headwaters. Named after Richard E. Becker, a leader in the citrus and agricultural industry, the preserve was acquired by St. Lucie County in 2011 to protect the ecological corridor.
A half-mile hiking trail winds through floodplain forests, scrub, pine flatwoods, and wetlands. An observation deck provides views of the river, while a canoe and kayak launch offers access to the water. Wildlife includes barred owls, river otters, wading birds, and butterflies. Picnic tables and a gazebo also provide seating areas.
