About Peck Lake Park

Peck Lake sits right next to the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge. From the parking area, you can step right onto the boardwalk trail and travel through diverse ecosystems. Much like the nearby wildlife refuge and Jupiter Island, you’ll find mangrove swamps, a brackish slough, hardwood trees, and mesic flatwoods. The boardwalk itself ends at a spoil island along the Intracoastal Waterway. This island was formed via the dredging of the waterway and adds a unique flair to this park compared to others in the area.

At Peck’s Lake, Florida, visitors can observe many bird species that are especially active during the spring and fall migrations. Species that visit this area frequently include the American Redstart, Common Yellowthroats, Spotted Sandpipers, and other wintering shore birds.

Peck’s Lake provides for a tranquil environment to enjoy Florida’s plants and wildlife. The walking trail is a short and easy trip. The park is equipped with picnic areas and a large pavilion, the perfect place for leisurely activities.

Adding another layer, Peck’s Lake, Hobe Sound, and the surrounding waters provide for underwater adventures as well. This is a great and popular spot for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. The unique reef in the area rises from about 32 feet to about 5 feet at its crest. For nine miles off the coast you can explore corals and diverse sponge species, sea turtles, lobster, and a plethora of reef fish.
