Oyster Bar Marsh Trail

About Oyster Bar Marsh Trail

Oyster Bar Marsh Trail is a conservation area opened in 2023 along the Indian River Lagoon in Vero Beach. It was preserved through cooperation among multiple agencies to prevent further development of sensitive coastal land. The site protects former salt marsh habitats that were enclosed decades ago for mosquito control and are now managed for conservation and public access.

The main trail follows the impoundment and provides consistent views of the lagoon and the interior mangrove swamp. As visitors walk the trail, they can observe tidal influences, wetland vegetation, and lagoon wildlife. In addition, a shaded picnic bench sits at the trailhead beneath a mature strangler fig, offering a rest point before or after walking.

Nearby, a crushed shell pathway winds through native plant displays. Informational signs identify plant species and explain their ecological role, supporting educational use of the site. The trail layout allows visitors to experience both open lagoon views and enclosed mangrove environments within a short distance.
