About North Sebastian Conservation Area

North Sebastian Conservation Area spans approximately 407 acres and was acquired by Indian River County between 1996 and 1999 through Florida Communities Trust grants. The site preserves and restores scrub and wetland habitats, supporting rare and endangered species. It plays a key role in the Sebastian Area-Wide Florida Scrub-Jay Habitat Conservation Plan, benefiting scrub-jays and other native wildlife such as roseate spoonbills, wood storks, bald eagles, ospreys, and sandhill cranes.

The conservation area features a diverse landscape, including pine flatwoods, oak scrub, sand pine scrub, freshwater marshes, and wet prairies. Over 10 miles of walking trails, boardwalks, and educational signage provide opportunities for exploration. Parking is available with 15 spaces, including one designated for handicapped access. Restrooms are also available and are located at Friendship Park.

Equestrian use is permitted, with two stalls at the main entrance. Rules require dogs to be leashed and prohibit alcohol, camping, overnight parking, and fires. Fishing is only allowed in designated areas.
