Hallstrom Planetarium is located on the Indian River State College Main Campus in Fort Pierce, Florida. It is an educational facility that presents astronomy and space science through a fully immersive digital projection system. The planetarium uses a 40-foot domed ceiling and a state-of-the-art Spitz 512 projector to recreate the sky, sun, moon, planets, and stars as seen from Earth or other points in space.
Visitors can view the night sky as it appears today, as it appeared thousands of years ago, or as it may appear in the future. In addition, the planetarium demonstrates celestial motion, planetary orbits, and astronomical events with precise accuracy. Seasonal programs focus on topics such as Saturn and its rings, satellites, rockets, and space exploration technology.
Programs also explain how to identify satellites, understand planetary systems, and observe changes in the night sky. The facility supports both public shows and academic instruction, making it a resource for students, educators, and the general public. Through guided presentations, Hallstrom Planetarium provides structured access to astronomy concepts using visual simulation rather than telescopes.
