Gordy Road Recreation Area is a 44-acre park located south of State Road 70. It features a half-mile interpretive trail that passes through scrubby flatwoods with sand live oak, myrtle oak, Chapman’s oak, and scattered slash pine. The trail includes signs identifying common plant species, making it easy for visitors to learn about the local habitat.
The park also has a nine-acre lake designated for catch-and-release fishing. A fishing pier provides access to the water, while nearby areas offer opportunities for birdwatching. Visitors may see anhinga, turkey vultures, and black vultures. Additionally, the park is home to alligators, bobcats, and deer, which can sometimes be spotted along the trails.
For recreation, the park includes an 18-hole disc golf course. There are also picnic tables, grills, and a pavilion for those who want to rest or have a meal. Compost restrooms are also available for convenience.
