Escape to Hutchinson Island Triathlon is an annual multisport race held at Stuart Beach on Hutchinson Island in Martin County, Florida. The event features open-water racing and coastal road courses set within a barrier island environment.
The race begins with an open-water swim in the Atlantic Ocean, offered in sprint and international distances. Athletes transition to a bike course that follows A1A on a flat, fast out-and-back route designed for steady pacing and clear navigation.
The run segment takes participants along a scenic coastal route that passes beneath the Ernest Lyons Bridge before turning back toward the park. Sprint participants complete one loop, while international distance athletes complete two loops.
Race divisions include triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, and relay formats. Each option allows athletes to compete individually or as part of a two- or three-person team. The event accommodates both experienced competitors and those new to multisport racing.
The course is centered at Stuart Beach, which offers beach access, restrooms, showers, picnic areas, and nearby dining. The event benefits the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center, supporting marine education and conservation efforts in the region.
