Magnificent Miniature Masterpieces is the Fort Pierce Art Club’s signature fundraiser and silent auction, built around one rule of size: every piece is made on a 3-inch by 3-inch canvas. That is nine square inches, and artists treat it as a real technical test. Entries come from professionals, emerging artists, community members, and students as young as seven.
The work on the walls covers oils, pastels, acrylics, mixed media, wire, sculpted clay, and glass. There is also a Rule Breaker category for unconventional, three-dimensional pieces that push past the flat canvas. The night before the public day, guest judges walk the exhibit and score entries for ribbons that include Best in Show (Adult and Youth), Most Creative, Most Technical, and Rule Breakers. Ribbon presentations follow during the public exhibition.
On the public day, visitors browse the exhibit and place bids on the miniatures throughout the day. Students and their families get a special early viewing. Past auctions have sent pieces to private collections, corporate desks, and yachts, with bidders from across the country and abroad. It also works as a local holiday shopping stop for original art.
Proceeds support art scholarships, classroom art supplies for schools, and free community programs such as the weekly Art on the Porch workshops. The Fort Pierce Art Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in the 1950s and is the oldest continuously running art club in St. Lucie County.
The event is held at the historic 111 Building on Orange Avenue in Downtown Fort Pierce. For more to do around town, browse Fort Pierce events.
