The Annual Treasure Coast Chess Competition brings elementary, middle, and high school students together to represent their schools in a regional chess tournament presented by Atlantis Chess Club in partnership with St. Lucie County and the City of Port St. Lucie.
The free competition is designed for students of varying experience levels, including both beginners and experienced players. Participants compete in four rounds of chess and are grouped according to school level and chess ability. The format emphasizes strategy, sportsmanship, school pride, and friendly competition.
The event also allows students to strengthen skills such as concentration, planning, decision-making, patience, and problem-solving. Atlantis Chess Club uses the competition to promote chess as an extracurricular activity and to encourage stronger connections between schools across the Treasure Coast.
Students may register individually while identifying the school they represent. Atlantis Chess Club then organizes participants by school. Trophies are awarded to the top-performing schools, and student participants receive medals.
The competition is part of Atlantis Chess Club’s broader effort to expand access to chess throughout the Treasure Coast and support schools interested in developing chess clubs and other chess-related programs.
