FPUA Youth Career Event is a free annual gathering hosted by the citizen-led Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) Utility Advisory Committee, designed to connect local students and young adults with real career opportunities in the utility industry. Held at FPUA’s facility on Energy Lane in Fort Pierce, the event brings together utility professionals, community partners, and young people eager to explore what a career in public utilities can look like.
Attendees get a behind-the-scenes look at the people powering essential community services, including electric, water, wastewater, natural gas, and Internet. Interactive department booths, hands-on demonstrations, and touch-a-truck activities with utility vehicles make the experience engaging for all ages. Resume-building workshops led by Indian River State College give attendees practical tools to take home, while a guided tour of the Water Reclamation & Reuse Facility offers a fascinating glimpse into local infrastructure.
