About Vero Beach Heritage Center & Indian River Citrus Museum

The Heritage Center & Indian River Citrus Museum is a historic site and community venue located in Downtown Vero Beach, Florida. Operated by Vero Heritage, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the center occupies a building constructed in 1935 through a partnership between the Federal Emergency Relief Administration and the City of Vero Beach. Originally known as the Community Building, it served as a gathering place for social and civic events and, during World War II, as a servicemen’s center. The building was later restored and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Today the site houses the Indian River Citrus Museum, which features exhibits on the citrus industry’s role in the region’s history, including vintage citrus crate label artwork, historic photographs, and artifacts. The Heritage Center also functions as an event venue, hosting weddings, receptions, meetings, and community programs, and offers a gift shop with locally themed merchandise.
