Riverwalk Boardwalk is a public waterfront walkway located along the St. Lucie River in Port St. Lucie. The boardwalk extends approximately 2,453 feet, connecting Tom Hooper Park, located behind Walgreens at Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Veterans Memorial Parkway, to the boat ramps and pavilion at Veterans Park at Rivergate. It provides continuous pedestrian access between the two parks.
The structure is built from recycled materials and includes lighting and thermoplastic handrails for safety and durability. The elevated design allows visitors to observe river conditions, shoreline vegetation, and wetland habitats along the St. Lucie River. The boardwalk supports walking, wildlife viewing, and shoreline fishing.
Fishing is permitted along designated sections and is a common activity due to the boardwalk’s central location and easy access. In addition, the route serves as a connection point between nearby recreational areas and riverfront amenities. The path is flat and suitable for casual walking.
Riverwalk Boardwalk functions as both a transportation corridor and a recreational feature within the city’s riverfront system. It allows residents and visitors to experience the river environment without disturbing sensitive shoreline areas.
