Seeking the Public’s Assistance with a PBSO Cold Case Homicide

Cold Case Homicide

Cold Case Homicide

On September 14, 1989, Rosa Mae Canty-Lovett was found floating face down in a canal west of US Highway #27, approximately 1.5 miles south of South Bay.

Rosa Mae’s body was discovered by a passing employee of U.S. Sugar Corp. She was found clothed only in a blue tank top and nude from the waist down. An autopsy performed, at the time, by the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office was unable to determine the cause and manner of death. No witnesses or suspects were ever developed.

In 2015, this case investigation was reopened by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Squad after the Medical Examiner reclassified Rosa Mae’s death as a homicide by undetermined means.

Anyone with information about Rosa Mae or her killer is urged to contact Detective Buss at 688-4032 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
