MCSO: Yields drugs, guns, cash and arrests during traffic stops
Often times where you find drugs, there’s a good chance you will find a weapon. That held true for two separate traffic stops made by MCSO Deputies working the 100-Shift. Finding drugs during a traffic stop is not uncommon, but when a gun accompanies the illegal substance, the stop becomes increasing dangerous for our deputies.
20-year old Johnny Renard Jackson, a convicted felon, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was the passenger in the vehicle that was stopped for speeding. The driver, 21-year old Guillermo Reyes, was also arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both men are from Stuart. Inside the vehicle, MCSO Corporal Norm Brush found 13-grams of powder cocaine individually packaged, 1.5 grams of crack cocaine, a silver revolver, and more than 400-dollars in cash.

In a separate incident, 24-year old Kevin Arce of Port St. Lucie was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop. Arce ran a stop sign near NW Baker Road. In addition to having nearly 100-grams of cannabis, a 9mm handgun was also located inside his vehicle. Arce was taken into custody and later released on a $10,000 bond.

This is why there is no such thing as a routine traffic stop.
