Police in Fort Pierce are looking to stem the tide of violence running through the streets the last few days.

Investigators say someone fired dozens of shots on North 29th street and Avenue M on Saturday. Just one day later, a 22-year-old was gunned down in front of a tire service center in Fort Pierce. He later died and the suspect is still on the loose. Then two more people were shot in the area of 27th Street & Avenue K on Monday. Both victims were rushed to the hospital in serious condition and the shooter in this incident is also still out there.

Now, city leaders say a task force made up of federal, state and local authorities will be out helping Fort Pierce police in crime heavy areas.

City and community leaders say they hope to strengthen the relationship between the community and police.
